The World Champions in Super Sprint are Philipp Horn (GER) and Dorothea Wierer (ITA). In best summer biathlon weather Philipp Horn was able to win against the two Swedes Sebastian Samuelsson and Peppe Femling. The spectators cheered loudly for the first German gold medal of this Summer Biathlon World Championships and literally carried Philipp Horn to the finish line.
In the women's race Dorothea Wierer (ITA) ran a strong race. She took the lead from the beginning and dominated the field with a strong shooting performance. Lisa Vittozzi (ITA) stayed on her coach colleague's heels and took the silver medal. Finland's Nastassia Kinnunen lined up in third place.
On day 2 of the Summer Biathlon World Championships 3.000 spectators were present at the decisions.
